Ariana Grande has become known for her signature super-high ponytail, but she has finally switched things up in the hair department, debuting a refreshing new ‘do.
The “Into You” singer, 23, posted three selfies on July 23, showing off new brow-skimming bangs chopped into her streaked blonde and brunette locks.
Leaving the caption blank, she instead tagged her stylist, Aaron Light, who regrammed one of the star’s images, writing: “#BangBang.”
”She was looking for something fresh and new,” Light told Us Weekly. “To me, bangs were the next evolution of her iconic look. I did a modern take on a ’60s bang. However, the key to this cut is that I tailored the shape of them to match the shape of her face. [The final look] is so versatile. It will look great with her signature pony, but would also look fantastic with her hair down.”
Grande had been sporting the same signature look since becoming a star on the Nickelodeon series Victorious and its spin-off, Sam & Kat. In 2014 she took to Instagram to responded to criticism of her predictable ’do.
“As annoying as it is for y’al to have to look at the same hairstyle all the time, it’s all that works for now,” she wrote.
In the post the singer also explained the style came when she “had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week” for the series, causing serious damage. “I wear it in a ponytail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely rather and absurd when I let it down.” she said.
