When Olivia Munn took on the role as Pyslocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, she wasn’t messing around. Determined to make her character as bad ass as the comic books, Munn decided to do her own stunts—the result? Some pretty rad fight scenes and a slimmer figure.

While filming the movie, Munn revealed that she lost 12 pounds (5.4kg) —but it wasn’t on purpose. “It was not intentional. I was trying to learn how to do all of the stunts,” the actress told E!’s Catt Sadler during X-Men: Apocalypse press junket in London. “They weren’t expecting Psylocke to do a lot of fighting in the movie, but when I had signed on, I said that’s something that I really wanted.”

Despite being assigned a stunt person, Munn decided to take matters into her own hands. “If I wanted the fans to see Psylocke and get a good fight scene for her and the fans, I knew I had to go do it myself,” she explained. “So I started training every day with Taekwondo and sword and the stunt and wire work, and I just ended up losing 12 pounds from working out every day.”

Munn regularly took to her Instagram account to share her grueling workouts during filming, and from the clips she posted it’s clear that she can kick some serious butt.

When the film wrapped, Munn got back to her regular routine of chilling and eating snacks. “As soon as I finished, I went back to Green Bay where my boyfriend was, and I literally just ate chips and salsa.” A girl after our own heart.
