Alice McCall: A new take on neon

MBFWA day three saw outdated trends brought back to life in a new and tasteful fashion

Debuting at MBFWA (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia) in 2004, after gaining popularity amongst fashion royalty such as Kate Moss and Alexander McQueen, Alice McCall this year, celebrated 15 years in the industry.

Iconic for her bold, yet beautiful designs, McCall took a big gamble with the injection of 2018’s neon trend in her Resort ’20 collection.

Kim Kardashian West began sporting head-to-toe neon last year in an attempt to bring back the ’80s fashion trend, making it her sole mission to turn it viral. From neon green to pinks and purple, influencers and fashion lovers alike were skeptical of the return of the uber bright tones, but it soon became apparent it was to become the biggest trend of the year.

After the die down and a few months of minimal neon sightings, we assumed (and were secretly glad) that the trend had disappeared. But after today’s viewing at Alice McCall, we were surprisingly reacquainted.

In contrast to Kim K’s looks in the past, Alice McCall’s subtle and stylish approach to neon dressing has us absolutely there for it!
