For young Aussie model Alannah Walton, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has always been a distant dream, but after moving to New York City four days prior to attending one VS audition, she has landed the role.

The Sydney-based teen has previously walked the runway for Australian department store David Jones and labels Bianca Spender and We Are Kindred, but it is safe to say that this international stage will definitely be the one to draw the most attention.

Mairie Claire Australia chatted to Alannah asking of the events leading up to the announcement, “It was about three or four days after my second casting and New York Fashion Week was on at the time, so I was out with a booker from London and we were going to a few of the events with some other models. I got a text from [senior creative for Victoria’s Secret] Ed Rasek who said we should come to Russell James’ book launch. So I arrived there and said hello to everyone, but I was so nervous because I knew within the next day or two everyone was going to find out if they had booked the show. As I was leaving, [Ed] whispered in my ear, ‘You got the show’ and just casually walked off, I was like, ‘wait, are you kidding?!’ I could not believe it.”
Following in the footsteps of Miranda Kerr, Australia’s first ever model to walk in the prestigious show, the homegrown beauty is set to hit the catwalk this December showcasing some of Victoria’s Secrets hottest new collections … but how does one prepare for such an enormous event, we ask? “I have a trainer called Michael Olajide in New York and his form is based on boxing and jump rope… we’ve been working two hours every single day … That’s been my main form of exercise in the lead up to the show and I’ve also been doing a lot of reformer pilates and Kyo therapy and saunas to relax and lengthen and stretch” she told Marie Claire Australia.
And as for the food, we are dying to know what she is eating to look that good? “I’m eating a lot of eggs for breakfast, a lot of nuts for snacking during the day and then lunch and dinners are pretty similar. I’ll do a big bowl of fish and vegetables or a chicken stirfry and just keeping it pretty simple with not much salt and lots of veggies and protein.”
Look out for the model’s debut at the Victoria’s Secret Show, airing Sunday, December 2nd 10:00 pm EST on The ABC Television Network.
