Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia has kicked off for another year. From the front row to backstage, here are our favourite moments so far:

Celebrity Spotting

It wouldn’t be fashion week without the A-list front row. Our favourite sightings of the first 48 hours included Elsa Pataky at camilla and marc, Isabel Lucas at Lee Mathews as well as Australian actress and star of the Dynasty reboot, Nathalie Kelley.

Romance at Alice McCall

Alice McCall amped up the romance as models walked the catwalk in feminine frills, ruffles and pleats. A girly colour plate of lilac, emerald green and white mixed with dreamy floral prints had the fashion crowd wishing for warm Spring days.

Barely there make-up

Pared back beauty has been the major trend of MBFWA thus far. Kate Squires for Napoleon Perdis created a ‘fresh, authentically Australian glow’ for the Fella swimwear show. Pro tip: ‘Add luminosity to the high points of the face with a multitasking palette such as the Light Switch Luminizer Palette with a colour to suit all skin tones.’

Sculptural earrings

Earrings are having a major moment and it’s set to continue right through to Summer where we’ll be swapping festive tassel styles for the more sculptural pieces shown at Karla Spetic, Lee Mathews and camilla and marc.

Print clashing at Lee Mathews

The gingham check is already a strong trend at this season’s MBFWA. Natalia Grzybowski, the head designer at Lee Mathews gave her own spin on this trend by mixing it back with bold botanical prints.
