DOLCE & GABBANA make an apology video to China

Is it too late now to say sorry?

This last week has been a very bad one for designers Dolce & Gabbana who were accused of racist commentary on social media and are currently in a “big brand crisis.”

Stefano Gabbana, was accused of making racist and derogatory comments through social media and well, pretty much supremely offended a whole nation (and most of the educated world). Their Shanghai show was subsequently cancelled and they have lost a substantial following in the Chinese market both on social media and in business alignments.

If you want to read about the whole mess from the beginning, here is a quick catch up. The scandal has been described by a Chinese newspaper as “one of the biggest disasters in the fashion industry.”

This isn’t the first time Stefano has made vitriolic comments about celebrities. Earlier this year, he called Selena Gomez “ugly” (maybe you should ask someone to buy you glasses for Christmas Stef) and has also called the Kardashians “the most cheap people in the world”

Selena Gomez tactfully retaliated when she wore a diamante “UGLY” hair pin to fashion week and Kourtney Kardashian was also seen taking a picture with Domenico (after he apologised on behalf of Stefano) after the comment about her family.

As a result of the huge backlash, Both Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce went into swift damage-control and released an apology video, which might be a necessary PR move, but also might be a little too late.
