Last year, sheer clothing dominated the runway at Australian Fashion Week, and the trend is back – and arguably bigger – for 2025.
Sheer fabrics made an entrance with standout pieces in Carla Zampati’s Ubiquity 60th anniversary runway show, while a few transparent pieces resembled softness for Lee Matthews’s Resort ’26 Collection.
Bianca Spender’s Deliquesce used sheer pieces to mimic the movement of water (complemented by wet-look hair and flushed cheeks). At the same time, the barley-there material, which was accompanied by fluid tailoring, stole the show at Karla Špetić’s AERIS.
If we’re taking away one thing from these collections, it’s that this ethereal and elegant fabric is here to stay.
