When to take down a Christmas tree

We know it isn’t the answer you want to hear, but there is no one set time to have your Christmas tree taken down by.

Every family has different traditions and while some of us may adore Christmas and want to appreciate our bedazzled indoor tree for as long as possible, others wait and put decorations up as close to Christmas Day as can’t wait to take them all down as soon as Boxing Day arrives.

According to a report by U.S. real estate company Opendoor, approximately 51% of the survey’s respondents said that they make sure to take their Christmas tree down around New Year’s Day.

For some families celebrating Christmas, decorations remain up until January 6, with the date signifying the Christian holiday of Epiphany or Little Christmas, which signifies the end of the 12 days of Christmas.

Surprisingly, 84% of overall respondents shared that they wait until late January before they start packing away their festive decorations, meaning that yes, it is socially acceptable to celebrate well into the new year.
