Gwyneth Paltrow is just one of those people who never ages. Just look at her paparazzi shots and Instagram photos as evidence—this woman is looking incredible for 46!
If you’ve ever been curious about the alternative lifestyle guru’s diet and exercise regiment, then read on.
Who Is Gwyneth Paltrow?
We doubt that you’ve never heard of Gwyneth Paltrow.
Her stardom is no surprise, especially since she comes from a showbiz family. Her dad is director-producer Bruce Paltrow, while her mom Blythe Danner is an actress known for her roles in Will & Grace, Meet the Parents, and The X-Files. Oh, and her godfather? None other than Stephen Spielberg.
Thanks to her Hollywood connections and talent, Paltrow got some very big breaks early on. In the early 90s, she had leading roles in Seven (starring across Brad Pitt), the Jane Austen adaption film Emma, and The Talented Mr Ripley, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Shallow Hall.
She landed an Oscar for her role in the 1998 modern film classic Shakespeare in Love. But even if you don’t recognize her from there, we’re sure you’re familiar with her work as Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Today, she’s mostly known as the head of Goop, an “alternative” health and wellness blog. It’s been in and out of the popular consciousness thanks to some controversial advice they’ve dispensed over the years, such as promoting a raw food diet or jade eggs for sexual health.
Still, Paltrow is undeniably a major influencer. She’s published several books, including diet books and recipes books “It’s All Good”, “It’s All Easy”, and most recently, “The Clean Plate: Eat, Reset, Heal”.
The Gwyneth Paltrow Diet
Paltrow’s diet has changed over the years, especially after her father was diagnosed with throat cancer. If you think that it involves a lot of clean eating, vegan food, and diet restrictions…then you’d be right.
One of Gwyneth’s former personal chefs said that while Paltrow was working on the first Iron Man in 2008, the actress avoided many things, including sugar, dairy, and gluten.
But does she still eat that way, or has it changed again in the last decade? Here’s a snapshot of Gwyneth Paltrow’s daily diet.
Breakfast
Paltrow starts off her day with a quick smoothie with vanilla protein powder, almond milk, coconut oil, and Moon Juice dust (a plant-based drink formula for additional vitamins and nutrients). But there are days when Paltrow just skips breakfast altogether.
Lunch
For lunch, Gwyneth makes sure to keep it healthy with a lot of protein, a lot of vegetables, and some grains. She stays light on carbs and avoids gluten.
Dinner
According to her, she lets loose during dinner time and eats “whatever she wants”. Although based on her website, cookbooks, and interviews, it seems like that still isn’t a lot. Paltrow makes it a point to avoid processed food and high-fructose corn syrup (which we could all do without, to be honest).
Still, she loves wine, white rice, and fried foods, and will indulge on occasion—especially on the holidays.
Supplements
One of the downsides of restrictive, clean eating is that you don’t get all the nutrients you need. So Paltrow makes up for it by taking a multivitamin, some fish oil, and herbs.
Cleanses
Surprisingly, the alternative lifestyle guru doesn’t subscribe to cleanses anymore. Well, except for an annual cleanse or when she’s testing out stuff for her website. Gwyneth Paltrow’s elimination diet involves removing gluten, meat, soy, corn, dairy, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, potatoes, and tomatoes.
Exercise
Gwyneth is a huge fan of celebrity personal trainer Tracy Anderson. She claims to have been using Anderson’s method daily for years. The method combines dance, weights, stretching, and a healthy dose of cardio—up to 2 hours a day of exercise for 6 days a week.
Should You Try Out Her Diet?
Gwyneth Paltrow’s diet plan is really restrictive. It will probably help you lose weight and break some bad eating habits, but it can be a little extreme and unsustainable for most people.
You’ll have to buy supplements and carve out a huge chunk of your day to working out, which is not something that everyone can (or should) do. Plus, working out every day (like she does) gives your body less chances to recover and puts you at risk of serious injury.
How To Achieve Gwyneth Paltrow’s Figure
But just because Paltrow’s food and fitness plan is difficult for the everyday person, doesn’t mean there’s nothing we can’t learn from it. If you want to work your way to a slim Gwyneth-esque body, here are some helpful ways to incorporate her tips into your lifestyle:
- Eat as vegan, organic, and non-toxic as possible. Avoid dairy, gluten, eggs, white carbs, and fatty foods.
- Make healthier choices for meals and snacks. If you get hungry in the middle of the day, reach for fruit or veggies instead of processed food.
- Exercise regularly, but be sure to give your body time to recover between sessions. Commit to a few days a week of weights and cardio.
- Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep, maybe even 10 hours. More sleep means a better appetite, higher energy, and overall better health.
