We arrive at the Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific just before sunset.
The property, located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches just 15 minutes’ ride from Circular Quay and the Sydney city centre, is directly opposite the picturesque Manly beach, stretching as far as the eye can see. The sun is stretching down the water and out toward the horizon and the scent of salt in the air puts us in holiday mode, rather than staycation.
That’s the thing about Manly, it has a year-long holiday energy.
We locate friendly staff at reception, down the back of the property and pass The Lobby Bar, which is already packed with guests and locals celebrating the end of the week.
After a quick check in process, my husband goes to park the car and we head up to our room on the fourth floor.
We’re welcomed into the room with a vivid orange and pink sunset, illuminating the sky in front of us.
The Superior Ocean View room is basic but comfortable with a king-size bed and a chair bedside for enjoying the view and a large TV. On the balcony, there are two chairs to enjoy the view but we decide to enjoy it in the warmth behind the floor-to-ceiling glass doors.
In the bathroom, there’s a two-in-one shower and bath, which my toddler is excited about jumping into.
The property also offers a rooftop pool that will no doubt be the place to be in summer, but as we’re here in the cooler months we don’t take a dip.
There’s also a bistro called Zalis in the foyer that also offers a buffet breakfast every morning and stunning uninterrupted views of the beach and ocean, but the hotel is also in close proximity to a wide variety of eating options from high-end to fast food and all the local amenities you’d need in a visit like a chemist, supermarket, bakery and more.
After a comfortable night’s sleep, we take the scenic 10-minute stroll by the beach around to Shelly Beach.
There, we enjoy a delicious breakfast at The Boat House. Word of warning, this is a Sydney hotspot so go early or be prepared for a little wait. Thankfully, it is located is on a stunning small beach which proved to be great entertainment for our little one.
From the hotel, it’s a quick walk along the concourse to the Manly Ferry stop, which will get you to Circular Quay, passing the Sydney Harbour Bridge in around 15 minutes.
