Visit these Once Upon a Time in Hollywood locations

Fans can visit the iconic LA hot spots from the star-studded movie

WITH Once Upon a Time in Hollywood set to hit Australian screens this month, film buffs and Aussie travellers can now live out their own real life film moments.

Starring Aussie actress Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, the ninth, and possibly last, film directed by Quentin Tarantino will screen in Australian cinemas on August 15.

Described as Tarantino’s love letter to LA, the movie was shot at a slew of iconic landmarks in the City of Angels, paying homage to the glory days of 1960s Hollywood.

Aussie travellers visiting LA can check out these real-life locations:

Casa Vega

This legendary cantina has long been a celebrity haunt with the owner, Christina Vega Fowler, known for keeping her high-profile guests hidden out of the spotlight.

In the film, Rick Dalton [DiCaprio] and Cliff Booth [Pitt] get a drink at the Sherman Oaks institution, which boasts low lighting and plush leather banquettes perfect for an incognito lobster quesadilla and one of their famous margaritas.

Fox Bruin Theatre

Designed by famed architect S. Charles Lee, the Bruin was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1988.

The icon makes an appearance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood when Sharon Tate [played by Margot Robbie] stops by the theatre to watch herself in the 1969 film, The Wrecking Crew.

Musso & Frank Grill

Hollywood’s oldest restaurant has long been a favourite haunt of generations of celebrities and writers.

Everyone from Charlie Chaplin, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Marilyn Monroe to Keith Richards and Johnny Depp have enjoyed the hospitality – and martinis – at this famous landmark, which is celebrating 100 years in business this year.

The restaurant features prominently in Once Upon a Time and in one scene, Dalton meets agent Marvin Schwarzs [Al Pacino] who admits to being a fan.

Regency Village Theatre

Originally the Fox Village Theatre, the Regency has hosted Hollywood film premiers for decades.

Featuring an iconic tower, which is topped by a 52-metre blue and white art deco FOX’ sign, the historic landmark is located in the heart of Westwood and a few minutes from the University of California, Los Angeles.

El Coyote Mexican Café

Popular with LA locals and visitors alike, this Mexican institution boasts an impressive number of autographed photos of some of Hollywood’s most famous faces along one wall.

Actress Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski and Abigail Folger ate their last meal at El Coyote on August 8, 1969 before they were murdered by members of the Manson Family at Tate’s rented home in Benedict Canyon.
