“Haven’t we done the drama fuelled seasons enough now... can’t we go back to the awkward cute show?” one fan asked.
“How are they not doing background checks on socials? He’s been notorious on it. Cancel the whole f------g show,” another added.
“Not watching this next season,” said a third.
Fellow former reality TV star Angie Kent also spoke out on the situation, taking to her own Instagram stories to slam the decision to cast Simon.
“This is the same man I was posting about not long ago who petrified me on TikTok and Instagram with his content,” she wrote.
“He is apparently appearing on this next season of MAFS. I’m truly mortified,” she continued.
“This man is incredibly toxic and dangerous.
“BOYCOTT! IMMEDIATELY! He does not need a platform to keep spreading his venom!” she implored her fans.
Angie continued to speculate at the nature of the casting in another Story slide.
“This has gone too far. The fact that he even got past the casting/psyche stage is beyond me. They fully background check. And sus out our socials,” she explained.
“This isn’t just casual mistakes or throwaway comments from this bloke … what he says is frightening,” she said.
“My mind has truly blown. Please let’s not let this happen!”

Simon has since responded to the story, messaging The Wash to ask them to remove the post about him.
He went on to make a statement on his private Instagram, which was then re-published by The Wash.
“Just to clarify, I haven’t posted on Tik Tok in six months and all videos of me are reposts or screenshots of lives from last year! Not my current thoughts or mindset! No further comment will be given,” he wrote.
A Nine spokesperson responded to request for comment, saying "when unacceptable social media content was discovered in relation to Simon Blackburn we immediately took steps to remove him from the program.
"We won’t be making further comment."
