Buckingham Palace has released further details about baby Archie’s royal christening.
Earlier this week it was confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be holding Archie’s christening in on July 6, exactly two months after his birth date on May 6.
Baby Archie may be getting some very famous godparents…
In a new statement, the palace revealed: “Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6th July. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton. The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private.”
Despite the Duke and Duchess stating that the names of Archie’s godparents will be kept private, there has been much speculation surrounding just who out of the couple’s high-profile circle will be chosen.
Meghan’s close friend Serena Williams is largely expected to be chosen as one of Archie’s godmothers – especially as the tennis star is playing at Wimbledon this week.
The Duchess of Sussex’s stylist and BFF Jessica Mulroney is also expected to fly in to London from Toronto for the special day.
Harry’s close friends, Mark Dyer, whose son, Jasper was a pageboy at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, and Soho House director Markus Anderson are both expected to be named godparents.
Since their son’s birth, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen to keep Archie out of the public eye as much as possible. Besides a photo call a few days after his birth, and Instagram tributes showing glimpses of Archie on both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, very little has been seen of the newest member of the royal family.
