Chrissy Teigen has hit out at cruel internet trolls who have attacked her after the mum-of-two revealed her miscarriage in 2020 was actually a life-saving abortion.

The star, who is married to John Legend, told crowds the real story behind her pregnancy loss at A Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit over the weekend.
“Let’s just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance,” she said.
“And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago.”
Now she’s being flooded with cruel and abusive comments on Twitter as social media users accuse Chrissy of lying about her miscarriage, or “milking” the traumatic experience for fame.
Anti-abortion activists also took aim at Chrissy, tweeting things like: “For Chrissy Teigen to accept thousands of condolences—only to announce that she actually ABORTED her child is inexcusably despicable.”
Some even suggested the timing of her candid comments was suspicious, noting that there’s an upcoming election in the US where abortion rights will be a major deciding issue.
The star then addressed the hate, saying she knew the confession would open her up to online backlash and challenged trolls to “do their worst”.
“I knew this would happen, and honestly I’ve already seen you do your worst so if this makes you feel better, great. It doesn’t make me feel worse though,” she tweeted.

She also included screenshots of some of the worst abuse she received on Instagram, including comments calling her a liar, a drunk and a “drama queen”.
But others came to the model’s defence, one writing: “Chrissy Teigen wouldn’t be the 1st woman to call an abortion a miscarriage.
“Women are shamed for terminating pregnancies even if it’s to save their own life. Don’t focus on the ‘lie’ but on building a society where women don’t have to due to judgemental and sanctimonious people.”
More pointed out that Chrissy’s pregnancy wasn’t viable and put her own life at risk, and called out ‘pro-life’ trolls attacking the star for undergoing a medically necessary abortion to save her own life.
Chrissy herself explained the seriousness of her condition at the A Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit, revealing that she wouldn’t have survived carrying the pregnancy to term.
“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions,” she said.
“It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention.”
She and John decided to terminate the pregnancy for Chrissy’s safety and when the couple told the world about their loss in September 2020, they called it a miscarriage.
It wasn’t until the pair were discussing the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade and subsequent changes to abortion rights in the US that Chrissy understood what she had been through.
Now the model mum is expecting another child with John, with whom she already shares Luna, six, and Miles, four.
