The relentless bullying by online trolls that ex Married at First Sight star Tracey Jewel has experienced since the start of the year, has taken its toll not only on her personal life but also her career.
The author claims she is now broke and without work.
“Everyone’s cancelled their contracts with me. Any way I had of earning an income has disappeared,” Jewel reveals to WHO.
“I had a lot of big plans and dreams for my life and because of the situation, with Patrick and the trolls, no-one wants to touch me, no-one will employ me.”
Until recently, Jewel’s boyfriend Patrick Kedemos was supporting her, until their rekindled romance ended abruptly while on a romantic getaway in Europe.
“When I was with Patrick he was helping me financially—I had a plan to get back on my feet once we got back [from Europe],” she says.
During their short relationship, Kedemos had given Jewel money to help kick-start her business ventures.
Even though the author couldn’t afford the five-week holiday, she decided to go along anyway, with plans to get financially sorted once she returned home.
“At that point at the end of June, I had future plans for myself. I had a radio show contract, I had clients interested in working with me, I had social media sponsorship deals. I had ways to earn money once I got back from the holiday set up ready to go,” Jewel tells WHO, adding, “It was a short-term cash flow problem for me, not a long-term one.”
Now, the star has revealed that all her business deals have been cancelled following the couple’s very public split whilst overseas.
“My parents are financially helping me right now. [They] are funding my bills,” the marketing manager says, adding, “My parents are in their mid-seventies and they don’t need their 35-year-old daughter being a financial or emotional burden.”
The reality star says she wants to work but is being forced to rely on her parents because she doesn’t have any other options.
“I don’t see a way out of my situation because it’s gotten so bad,” she says. “I want to work, I want to be a contributing member of society.”
“I don’t know what I’m going to do, I don’t know how I’m ever going to work again,” Jewel tells WHO. “I’ve spoken to everyone from the federal police to Acorn to Instagram to the ACCC and from a legal standpoint, I’ve done nothing wrong.”
But the 35-year-old says she refuses to give up and has recently enrolled in a university course to further her studies.
“I thought, I’ve got to do something constructive with my life so I’ve just applied to do a post-graduate certificate in marketing—that will prove to people that I’ve actually got a degree.” Jewel says.
“I’ve put ten years of work experience into where I am today. Why should I give that up because of trolls and bullying?”
