However, according to Courtney, her exit was inevitable due to a major flaw in the challenges this season.
Speaking to Mid North Coast’s Krysti & Bodge on Wednesday, the 40-year-old criticised show producers for making the recipes too complicated and including obscure ingredients that even a professional chef would struggle to use.
‘I didn’t know what a boab was. I still don’t know what it is. Kohlrabi cones?’ she mused.
She also explained that despite being a professional chef herself, she’d never used some of the methods that were required of her during the competition.
‘I’d never put burrata through a siphon gun before… that’s why I took so long reading the recipe,’ she said.
‘I thought they gave me the Taiwanese version and I couldn’t actually understand it.’
The Sydney Swans caterer was the second contestant to be sent home on Tuesday. She previously competed in the 2010 season of MasterChef Australia.
Earlier this week, fans praised Courtney for coming out as gay after she revealed she is engaged to her long-term girlfriend, Sophie King.
While Courtney and Sophie quietly announced their engagement in 2014, it is only now that fans of the show are learning about the TV star’s same-sex relationship.
