They’ve been compared to each other ever since it was announced Meghan Markle was set to join the royal family as Prince Harry’s wife. But according to a new report, the Duchess of Sussex is well aware that she is being “pitted against” sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

A friend close to the Duchess of Sussex says that she finds the situation rather “challenging”.
“Meghan is very aware that Kate will be queen; their roles are very clear,” the insider told People magazine.
“Meghan doesn’t fit the mould while Kate was groomed for this.
“What’s challenging is when they are pitted against each other. That’s been challenging to both of them. Meghan has her life, Kate has hers.”
While both the royal women are very different, the source says they do have one thing in common: Their lives revolve around their children.
“It’s very much still about taking care of him and putting family first,” a friend says of Meghan, Harry and their 6-month-old son Archie. Meanwhile, Kate and William are busy parenting Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, and 1 1⁄2-year-old Prince Louis.
However, the two women have very different styles of parenting.
“William and Kate toe the line, maybe because they have to, but Harry and Meghan are saying no—no to releasing the names of Archie’s godparents, no to saying where Meghan gave birth,” says the friend. “They are trying to carve out a different sort of public life and reset the rules.”
The report follows news last week that Harry and Meghan are becoming increasingly isolated from the royal family after Harry confirmed he and William have drifted apart in the couple’s documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.
Those close to the couple say they are struggling with ongoing feelings of isolation from the rest of the royal family. And while Meghan’s admission during the documentary that she has struggled with life as a new mum in the glare of the media has “opened eyes” about the couple’s emotional distress, the relationship between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the royal family is increasingly frosty.
