It is no secret that Meghan Markle wants her first child to have as much of a normal life as possible which might see them snub the whole royal baby title altogether.

WATCH: Meghan Markle’s baby won’t have a Royal title says expert

Last week, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex stated that they are planning to keep details about the Royal Baby private until they have had the chance to “celebrate privately” their arrival.

The royal commentator, Melanie Bromley suggests the royal couple could decide not to have their child receive a Royal title to avoid attracting too much public attention.

The decision to keep the birth closed from the public sparked criticism from those who have been eagerly waiting to welcome the youngest member of the Royal Family into the world after showing their support to Meghan and Prince Harry with several pounds worth of donations to the couple’s favourite charities.

The E! News Chief Correspondent said: “Princess Anne, when she gave birth to Zara Philipps, decided not to give Zara Phillips a Princess title because she wanted Zara to have a normal a life as possible.

“Meghan and Harry have a choice whether to do that or not.”

The Queen is believed to have offered her only daughter, Princess Anne, the opportunity to have her children hold a Royal title but she refused.

Meghan and Harry’s child would have automatically been kept from having a title if born a girl due to a Letters Patent issued in 1917 granting the title of Prince to all male children of the sovereign and their sons who have the title of Royal Highness and the prefix of Prince or Princess.

No mention was made about the appropriate name for a female child.

The Queen sanctioned the controversial rule about titles with a second Letters Patent in 2012, making it possible for Princess Charlotte to hold the title.

The royal expert suggests that because of Meghan and Harry’s decision to keep private about the Royal Baby, and potentially shun the title, may not help the couple with public perception due to the role the Duke of Sussex plays as a member of the Royal Family.

She continued to say, “The problem is Harry has a lot more money from the Crown and that’s why there is a higher expectation for him.”

Prince Harry has also announced he will be doing a TV show with Oprah soon, and we can expect more reality TV plans like this evolve which will impinge on his royal status.

“Harry and Meghan are going the Hollywood route. That does not help with public perception,” she said.

“People who do not like Meghan now, are going to continue to not like her.”

Despite the criticism, the Duke and Duchess took the time to thank royal fans with a message to the public on their  account.

“Just one week ago, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked that you kindly consider supporting various organisations around the world in lieu of sending gifts for the upcoming arrival of their first born. Not only did many of you lend your support, you took action,” they wrote.

“Their royal highnesses wanted you to know the impact of your support – the direct effect your donation, energy, and action made! YOU chose to be part of the collective good, and you have a made a real difference.

“Whether a $5 donation, £1000 contribution, offering to volunteer, or spreading the word – you’ve played your part and on behalf of The Duke and Duchess (and Baby Sussex), we thank you so much,” they concluded.

It looks like for the time being, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are committed to following through on their royal duties until the baby is born.
