Lucy Hale will star in the next ‘Riverdale’ spin-off, ‘Katy Keene’

And she'll be joined by an existing 'Riverdale' character in the new show

First came Riverdale, then The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and now Katy Keene is set to be the next show based on characters from Archie comics. And it has just been announced that former Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale will play the title character. 

Katy Keene will follow four friends trying to make it in New York City, including fashionista-in-the-making Katy and singer Josie McCoy, with actress Ashleigh Murray set to leave Riverdale to move over to Katy Keene if it gets picked up for a full series. At this stage, only a pilot has been commissioned by Riverdale‘s US network, the CW.

The show will be a musical dramedy and focus on the twenty-something characters as they try to break into their dream jobs in fashion, musical theatre and the music industry. Other cast members in the pilot include Camille Hyde, Lucien Laviscount, Jonny Beauchamp and Julia Chan.

The pilot for Katy Keene will be co-written by Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and one of the show’s writers, Michael Grassi, and will film in New York.
