On our Who Are You podcast, Pete Timbs goes one-on-one with Australia’s favourite celebrities to reveal fascinating stories you’ve never heard before. In the second episode, Timbs chats with Roxy Jacenko about balancing her career with family and how a drunken night ended in a $27,000 splurge on veneers.
“Tell us about your latest dental visit,” beckoned Timbs during their chat.
“Well I was drunk, and I was running to the bathroom about four months ago to vomit, and as I ran to the bathroom, I lost my footing – drunk – fell onto the bath and knocked my tooth out. It’s taken four months to fix my tooth… and it’s very expensive,” Roxy laughed.
“I’ve got a lovely new set of porcelain veneers for $27, 000.”
Timbs, clearly shocked by, questioned: “Is there gold in them or something?”
To which Roxy responded: “There should be, shouldn’t there? That was a very expensive few drinks I had… and you’d like to know that I didn’t actually vomit because I was concussed.”
In the revealing interview, Roxy also admitted her weakness for Birkin bags, calling her love for the designer handbag an “ongoing obsession”.
The mum-of-two says she has 28 in her current collection.
“Needless to say I come to work every day with a shopping bag – just a carrier bag with my stuff in it, they [her colleagues] are like ‘you’re a freak, why do you have these bags in boxes and you use a carrier bag?”
