The new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home comes with an introduction from star Tom Holland warning about spoilers for anyone who hasn’t yet seen Avengers: Endgame, so we’ll do the same: stop reading now if you haven’t seen the most recent Marvel release. Otherwise, watch the trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home below.
In the trailer, we see how Peter Parker (aka your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man) is coping in the wake of Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr) sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame – and also how he is shaping up to be a suitable successor to Iron Man.
Most of the action happens on a school trip to Italy taken by Peter and his class-mates, including Ned (Jacob Batalon), MJ (Zendaya) and Flash (Tony Revolori), who were also snapped as a result of the events of Avengers: Infinity War but have now been restored to the world.
While in Europe, Peter is tracked down by Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), who brings Spidey together with new character Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) in order for them to take on an emerging threat: the Elementals.
Seems like the new co-stars, Tom and Jake, have developed quite the bond both on and off screen, with the pair recently travelling to Mexico together to promote Far From Home and flaunting their bromance on Instagram.
Spider-Man and Mysterio hasn’t always had a good relationship in the comics, with Far From Home director Jon Watts telling Entertainment Weekly, “What I wanted to do was bring this iconic character into the world in a way that people weren’t expecting. And Mysterio as the hero is definitely something that we haven’t seen before. The idea of Spider-Man, Mysterio and Nick Fury teaming up to take on this global threat of the Elementals was really exciting.”
Spider-Man: Far From Home is in cinemas on July 1.
