Imagine if you could hear everything that’s going on in men’s minds. Scary thought, right? In upcoming comedy film What Men Want that’s exactly what happens to Ali Davis (Taraji P Henson) following an incident involving a clairvoyant, a nightclub and a drink that might contain some hardcore drugs. When she comes around, Ali has the power to hear anything that men think, leading to some pretty hilarious situations in the trailer below.
If the premise for What Men Want sounds familiar that’s because it is – the movie is a remake of 2000 film What Women Want, in which Mel Gibson’s character gains the ability to hear what women (including Helen Hunt and Marisa Tomei) think. This update, due in cinemas on Valentine’s Day, 2019, switches things around as sports agent Ali, who’s been overlooked for a promotion in her male-heavy workplace, uses her new-found skill to her advantage.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Henson said she’s “very excited” about the movie. “This is, like, one of my all-time favourite comedies,” she continued. “The fact that I was thought of when they decided to do the reverse of the story was pretty honouring, I’m honoured.”
What Men Want is in Australian cinemas a week after the US on February 14, 2019.
