Teenage actor William McKenna is back for the final season of Nowhere Boys (starts Mon., Dec. 3 at 5pm; ABC ME) and has been cast in the upcoming production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as Scorpius Malfoy.
What can fans expect from the new Nowhere Boys?
A lot more action, magic, adventure and running. This season is so intense. We also see Ben attempt to be part of the gang once more.
Does the show end in a satisfying way?
Completely. It’s a really exciting ending – Nowhere Boys hasn’t done anything like this before. Finishing on the show is a bit like leaving school, which I’m actually doing now.
What have you enjoyed about playing Ben?
The glasses. [Laughs] He gets really excited about magic and research, and to play that is fun. There are a lot of similarities between Ben and me.
Next, you’re in the Harry Potter play. Are you a fan?
I’m a huge fan. There’s a video of me and my cousin when we were 6 years old shouting spells at each other with wands.
How do you feel about playing the son of such a pivotal character?
The pressure is there, but Scorpius is written so beautifully I feel grateful for the opportunity.
You’re OK being Slytherin?
I went on Pottermore a couple of years ago and I am Slytherin. At the time, I was like, “That sucks,” but now I couldn’t be happier.
