The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared to have gone AWOL as Trump and wife Melania were welcomed by senior members of the royal family.
Despite the fact William and Kate live in Kensington Palace, a short distance from the Queen’s residence, the royal couple did not attend the welcome ceremony and no explanation was given as to why they were MIA.

However, the pair did attend a state dinner at Buckingham Palace the following evening alongside Her Majesty and the Trumps.

Kate dazzled in a white Alexander McQueen dress and earrings loaned to her by the Queen. She accessorised the looks with one of Princess Diana’s favourite tiara’s, the Lovers Knot.
Prince Harry also attended a private lunch with the U.S president on Monday.
