After her husband, Oliver Curtis, was imprisoned for insider trading in 2016, Roxy says the stress of his absence took a toll on her mental health and caused her weight to plummet.
"It was a culmination of some seriously challenging times for me personally, Oliver’s sentencing to jail, being diagnosed with breast cancer two weeks after that, and then the pressure of running a business and juggling kids," she said.
Reflecting on mental state, the Australian socialite also told Mamamia‘s No Filter podcast at the time that she was "out of control".
“I mean, anyone who looks at my Instagram from two years ago and sees a 49 kilo human… like, it’s not normal. I didn’t eat, I was taking drugs, I was drinking myself into a stupor.
I look back now and I’m embarrassed. I thought it was an achievement. It wasn’t an achievement, it was sick in the head."
Roxy says she later decided to turn her life around so she could be a better mother to her two little ones.
"I had to make changes to be able to be a good mother, have the ability to focus, and to be healthy," she told the Daily Mail.
