The blonde bombshell also revealed the cost of working in the industry, which is highly lucrative for a lot of stakeholders – not just the performers.
“The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 per cent to my lawyers, 10 per cent to my agents, 3 per cent or something like that to my business manager,” she listed.
“I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.
“If I just acted, I wouldn’t be able to afford my life in LA. I take deals because I have to,” she explained.
However, Sydney’s financial woes come from a darker place, given the strain she saw her family face when it came to money issues.
Moving to LA when she was just 13 to pursue acting, Sydney was followed by her family, who lived with her in a studio apartment while she was finding her feet.
“We lived in one room. My mum and I shared a bed and my dad and little brother shared a couch,” she told the Reporter.
But as her star rises, we’re certain she’ll be able to leave any financial woes behind her.
Sydney built up her career in television, nabbing roles in The Handmaid’s Tale and Everything Sucks!
More recently, she has become best-known for her roles in HBO series The White Lotus and Euphoria.
Starring as Cassie Howard in the latter, and has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Her co-star, Zendaya, has also been nominated for the same award.
