Since their marriage in 2021, Lena Dunham‘s husband has also become her creative partner. After collaborating on several previous project, the two co-created and wrote Lena’s latest Netflix series, Too Much.
When the Girls creator met British-Peruvian musician, Luis Felber, both 39, Lena had recently ended her high-profile relationship with record producer Jack Antonoff, and relocated to London.
Too Much — a rom-com series about an American who leaves New York for London in the wake of a break-up, only to fall for a British musician — certainly has echoes of Dunham’s life.
So, who is exactly is Lena’s husband and muse, Luis Felber?
Does Lena Dunham have a husband?

Lena Dunham married Luis Felber in 2021. The pair met and reside in London, and were married in a casual Jewish ceremony at The Union Club in Soho. Taylor Swift served as a bridesmaid.
The two became engaged only months after meeting, and were married that same year. Luis proposed after he had been to visit Lena in hospital. “Then the next day when [Lena] got back, we were in bed, and I said, ‘I just I don’t ever want you to go through that on your own again.’ And you said, ‘Oh, I want to marry you someday.’ And I said, ‘Why don’t we make that someday, soon day?’,” he told Vogue in 2021. The next day, he continued, they made it official.
Lena and Luis have been together since February 2021, having met through a mutual friend. “The moment we met, it was that sort of cheesy, beautiful thing of automatic connection. Neither of us were expecting that,” Felber told Variety.
Who is Luis Felber?
Apart from being Lena Dunham’s husband, Luis Felber is a musician who performs under the name Attawalpa. (The name is also Luis’ middle name, and a reference to the last Incan emperor, Attahualpa.) Luis was born and mostly raised in the United Kingdom, but spent several of his childhood years in Chile and Peru, where his mother was born.
During his music career, Luis has been a member of bands Shuga and Turbogeist before going solo. He also co-wrote the song ‘Rotten Apple’ with Mick Jagger.
Since meeting Dunham, the two have collaborated on several creative projects, including the soundtrack for Catherine Called Birdy. As well as co-creating Too Much, Luis also co-wrote the series and served as an executive producer and composer.
Is Too Much based on Lena Dunham’s relationship?

While Too Much is not billed as a true story, parts do appear to be based on Dunham’s life. To start, Lena and her husband penned the script together. It was intended to echo elements of their relationship, with both the main characters retaining elements of their creators.
To start, Too Much‘s leading lady, Jessica (played by Hacks star Megan Stalter), is American, while her romantic interest is a British musician. Felix (Will Sharpe of The White Lotus fame), is not only English and an indie musician like Luis, they are both also sober.
Meanwhile, Jessica is also getting over a breakup with a pretentious music magazine writer. Some have drawn comparisons with this character and Dunham’s ex, Jack Antonoff. However, Dunham dismissed these rumours, saying the character, Zev, is an “amaglamation” of several of her ex boyfriends.
“It’s certainly not quote-unquote based on a true story, but like everything I do, there is an element of my own life that I can’t help but inject,” she told Variety.
