Boy George just set the record straight over what made him storm off the set of The Voice on Sunday night – and it’s not what you’re thinking.
The 80s popstar left the set after mild-mannered auditionee Daniel Shaw was apparently rude to him.
George’s ego was feeling fragile from not being picked by any of the contestants he’d turned for so far – and Daniel’s back chat was one step too far.
After George asked whether he played guitar, Daniel replied: “I can play guitar, but no-one really cares if I play guitar.”
Clearly offended, George said: “No-one cares? I do. I think after that comment, go with Delta. ‘No-one cares if I play guitar’? It’s a weird thing to say,” before storming off the set.
In Monday night’s episode, the Crying Game singer explained what caused his meltdown – and it’s all because he cares too much.
Speaking to the show’s executive producer, George came back on set, saying: “No I’m good, I’m good… I just misheard what was said.
“I’m kind of fine now, and I’m a bit embarrassed,” he added, laughing.
“I’ll be fine, you know me, I just go from like one extreme to the other. But I’m cool, I’m not annoyed, I was just annoyed in the moment.
“I’ve had a run of ‘nos’ and I just had a bit of a diva moment, but I’m back ready to fight now, I’m going to have fun.”
“Passion is, you know, it takes you to somewhere, doesn’t it? Sometimes you just care too much, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing, I think that’s a good thing.”
