After an almost decade-long hiatus, the promise of fun times lured Cameron Diaz to return to acting alongside Jamie Foxx in the upcoming Netflix movie Back in Action.
“A lot of people don’t know this, but after Cameron and I did Any Given Sunday and Annie together, we became friends in real life,” Foxx said while speaking at Netflix’s Upfront presentation on May 15. “And since then, I’ve been begging her to come play with me again. We all know there’s just something about her.” For her part, Diaz replied, “I couldn’t have asked for a better partner, on-screen and off.”

The strength of Diaz’s friendships have long been the key to both her personal and professional success.
“If you’re looking for the best dinner-cooking partner and watching-TV-on-the-couch friend, call her,” her Charlie’s Angels co-star Drew Barrymore gushed on her popular talk show in 2019. “If someone is in a medical situation, call her! She’s the most loyal, fierce, fun, cosy friend.”
‘There were a lot of relationships I had to iron out’
Before Diaz, 51, took a break from acting, she starred in blockbusters such as My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Holiday and There’s Something About Mary.
“I’d been going so hard for so long, working, making films, such a grind. I didn’t make space for my personal life,” Diaz shared with Gwyneth Paltrow on an August 2020 Goop podcast. “There’s a lot of things I had to iron out … a lot of relationships I had to build that were absent in my life.”
In the conversation, she also shared that Paltrow encouraged her to have a family. “I wouldn’t have become a mother if it wasn’t for you,” Diaz said. “I used to tell you, ‘I’m not having kids.’ And you’d say, ‘No, you are having kids … you’re getting married!’ So, I credit you so much.”
After stepping out of the spotlight, Diaz married Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, 45, in January 2015, and the couple welcomed daughter Raddix in December 2019. In March, they announced the arrival of their son, Cardinal.
Diaz and Madden are rock solid
“Cameron and Benji love being parents,” a source told People. “They have a solid and happy marriage and have proven already that they are natural parents who took to it easily.”
Diaz’s sister-in-law, Nicole Richie, gave an update about the new baby in April. “The cutest. The absolute cutest,” she revealed to E! News. “Everyone’s amazing.”
Since then, Diaz, who had professionally pivoted to launch organic wine company Avaline, has returned to her roots. She was seen in May shooting upcoming Apple TV+ film Outcome.
When not on set, Diaz is spending time with friends and family. In June, she was snapped on a beach with model and pal Behati Prinsloo, who shares three kids with Adam Levine, and she spent July 4th with Chris Pratt, who has two daughters with his pregnant wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.
Spending time with other famous families, the star has no doubt gained a few pointers about parenting in the spotlight. “Everybody only has 100 per cent,” she said in an interview with CBS News in 2022. “And you always have to figure out how you’re going to divide that 100 per cent to spread it to all that parts of your life that matter.”
