What is Welcome To Chippendales about?
Welcome to Chippendales tells the outrageous story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee, an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire.
Of course, just as things are going “incredibly well” for our leading man, things take a rather bloody turn when this comedy suddenly becomes a sprawling true-crime saga.
After having a taste of success, Steve refuses to let anything stand in his way of notoriety and teases as such in the trailer (which you can watch in the video player at the top of this story).

Is Welcome To Chippendales based on a true story?
The short answer is yes, Welcome To Chippendales is loosely based on a true story. At the height of his success, the real-life Steve had clubs in New York, Dallas and Denver.
Things went downhill for the entrepreneur when, according to the Los Angeles Times, Steve was charged with conspiracy to kill three of his business associates, as well as racketeering and arson.
He went on to plead guilty to the racketeering charge, which included arranging the murder of Nick De Noia, an award-winning television director who was once the choreographer for Chippendale’s touring dance company.
However, before Steve could be sentenced for his crimes, he committed suicide in 1994.
