The couple were living together in a house near Byron Bay that Zac was paying for, which, apparently, might be part of the problem here. The former High School Musical star is preparing to fly off to Canada in May to film Firestarter with Anne Hathaway for two months, leaving Vanessa in the home alone.
This would mean that Zac would be paying for a house he wouldn’t be living in, which, as the source told US Weekly, “wasn’t going to work for him.”
However, there could be more to the story here as the insider added that “Zac is secretly relieved about this turn of events as he feels she would be a distraction to him during the filming of the intense drama.”
The pair were first romantically linked in June 2020, but the insider said that friends told Zac that “he was getting in too deep and spending too much time” with his new beau, who also planned a surprise party for the Baywatch actor’s 33rd birthday.
“He felt it was best to end this now,” the source continued.

But, a different inside source told the Daily Mail Australia that Zac had ended the relationship after he had heard that the former waitress at the Byron Bay General Store and Cafe was in talks to star in Netflix’s Byron Baes.
“He’s a very good person who wanted a genuine, normal, down-to-earth partner,” the insider told the publication.
“Zac sent her home from the set [of Down to Earth with Zac Efron] last week. There still may have been a chance.”
"I'm sure the final nail in the coffin was him seeing the story of her being possibly on Byron Baes and the claims that he was helping her get on it."
It’s unclear what exactly was the reason behind Zac Efron’s split from Vanessa Valladares, but Zac’s pal and radio host Kyle Sandilands confirmed that the pair had split last week.
“[It] wasn’t just a rumour,” he said. “I can also confirm after speaking with him yesterday.”
Zac Efron and Vanessa Valladares first got together in June 2020 after meeting at the cafe where Vanessa worked.
