She recently took a break from her role at Seven, as she's been unwell, but now fans know there's a silver lining with a baby on the way.
Abbey and Kane have been together since 2021, the couple confirming their romance after months of rumours following Abbey's divorce from Ben Way.
“Kane's really good. He's pretty shy and I'm not, so we're a good match,” she told the Herald Sun of her romance with the AFL star when it was first revealed.
It’s believed they met through Love Island Australia star Tayla Damir, who is married to Kane's teammate Nathan Broad.
Speculation over Abbey and Kane's romance began in back in May 2021, when Abbey accompanied Kane to TV presenter Sam Mac's book launch in Melbourne.
Their romance comes hot on the heels of the breakdown of her marriage to Sky News Racing presenter Ben Way after just one year of marriage.
At the tail end of 2019, Abbey - the granddaughter of Olympic legend Herb Elliott – was announced as the new co-host of House Rules alongside Jamie Durie, before walking down the aisle to marry Ben.
In front of 140 family and friends, including stars such as Neighbours' Rob Mills and Home and Away's Sam Frost, Abbey and Ben tied the knot at Lot 100 in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
"Walking down the aisle and seeing [Ben] at the end waiting for me was just something I'll never forget," Abbey told The Advertiser at the time.
The Perth-born TV host attended 10 custom fittings with luxury bridal house Pallas Couture to create her dream wedding dress.
“The dress was a real princess moment,” she said following the nuptials.
“I always thought I’d be more of a sleek slip kind of gal but by the time I put on a princess dress I knew that we were going to have to widen the aisle. It was just so beautiful.”
Long before becoming husband and wife, Abbey and Ben met like many have before them – in the workplace.
"I had just started an internship at Fox Sports and I was newly single," Abbey previously shared with WHO.
"Ben was the anchor and I thought he was pretty cute. It all sort of went from there. We always joke that I pretty much chased him profusely which is sadly the case."
She continued: "We started off in the workplace together, which of course had its little dramatic moments but mostly it was just fun, and we knew from the beginning that it was something pretty special.
“From the moment we first kissed, it was like, OK, this is it. We’ve been full steam ahead ever since.”
But the pair filed for divorce just a year after their extravagant 2019 wedding. Abbey also changed her name back to her maiden “Gelmi” title following the shock break-up, but she appears to be happier than ever now.
At the height of her career, Abbey was part of Channel Seven’s 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics coverage along with veteran athletes Lydia Lassila and Steven Bradbury.
“Olympics is like a mecca to me and something that's always been important to my family,” she previously told the West Australian.
“It doesn’t get much more dramatic than people getting one shot in four years or in this case five years, to have a go at their dreams.”
We can't wait to see what the future holds for Abbey as a TV presenter and a mum!
