A GoFundMe page has been launched hours after James Van Der Beek’s death, with his family admittedly “out of funds” after his extensive medical bills stacked up.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars have already been donated to the page currently organised by Kimberly Van Der Beek, James’ wife, after the beloved actor and dad-of-six lost his fight to colorectal cancer on January 11.
The fundraising page reveals the family had been struggling financially while trying to care for the beloved Dawson’s Creek star.
“Throughout his illness, the family faced not only emotional challenges but also significant financial strain as they did everything possible to support James and provide for his care,” the GoFundMe page reads.
“In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future. The costs of James’s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds.”
The family are now “working hard” to stay in their home, with all fundraised money going towards “living expenses, bills and [to] support the children’s education”.

Tributes and donations flow for James Van Der Beek
Celebrities and fans have been honouring the late-actor as the donations continued to flow in for James Van Der Beek’s family.
Guy Oseary, a talent manager and writer, has donated $10,000 to the family, while $20,000 was given by an anonymous donor.
Many fans have donated, saying they will “miss his sparkle” and are simply “devastated” for his family.
Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana pledged $2.5k monthly, and Wicked director Jon M. Chu $10,000.
Celebrities also share this heartache, with Busy Williams writing she was “profoundly heartbroken” for James’ wife and children, and pointed to the GoFundMe page in his tribute on Instagram.
“He was my friend and I loved him and I’m so grateful for our friendship all these years,” she wrote.
Chad Michael Murray, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Garner and Jenna Dewan are among the celebrities who have also paid tribute to James.
