While Bec Zacharia and Danny Hewitt had one of the funniest and most light-hearted weddings of MAFS 2026, the end to their relationship was quite the opposite.
Even though fans could predict the couple’s split before the pair entered Final Vows, what we couldn’t predict was how it all went down…and everything post-experiment that followed.
Yes, Bec and Danny certainly had their fair share of hiccups throughout the experiment, from intimacy issues to Danny’s inability to be serious and his dwindling attraction following Bec’s poor behaviour with the other brides.
Problems and all, the fact that Danny continued to lead Bec on in those final episodes led to an even harder (and awkward) watch when Bec heard Danny’s anti-vows.
However, while they’re not together, it’s still up in the air whether the pair are friends. WHO has spoken to Bec and other insider sources about this topic, receiving mixed signals.
Either way, the pair have some interesting side quests brewing and we’re here for the drama.
Bec and Danny’s awkward Final Vows
During Final Vows, Danny rejected Bec and expected to be “abused” by his bride. Instead, Bec apparently made his anti-vow “harder” than he thought as he had to watch her walk away and cry.
I mean what did he expect? She’s been professing her love for him the entire show…?
While Bec was “blindsided” and “shocked” by Danny gaining clarity about their relationship – or rather the need for them NOT to have one – Danny complained to producers about having to watch her stand there and take it “gracefully.”
“If she was like that for the whole experiment, I would’ve stayed with her,” he said.
However, Danny might just get the explosive reaction that he’s after, as a dinner party tirade has been teased for the Reunion episode and Bec is certainly letting loose on her thoughts on Danny. Tbh, we can’t wait!
A hilarious start for Bec and Danny
Not all of Bec and Danny’s relationship was drama-filled.
At the start of the season, as the bride-to-be stood at the top of the altar with her soon-to-be husband, she recognised one of the guests as famous stripper and Channing Tatum lookalike, Will Parfitt.
“Has anyone ever told you you look like, what’s his name?” the real estate agent said, pointing to Danny’s mate in the audience.
The response left Danny and his side of the room in a fit of laughter, with the groom confirming: “It is him!”
The funny moment at the beginning of their nuptials acted as a good omen for the rest of their wedding.
The biggest revelation was that Will had recently been “well acquainted” with one of friend of hers… if you catch my drift.
“You slept with my friend the other night!” Bec said. The room erupted in shocked laughter, with Will shaking his face in embarrassment.
“I didn’t recognise the bride so that’s all that matters,” he said to producers later.
Danny’s unseriousness is a repeated problem for Bec
The wedding started with plenty of banter; however, it quickly turned when Danny said he was looking for a Bonnie & Clyde kind of love, so explained Bec will need to be the one breaking him out of jail when he’s there.
What was supposed to be a throwaway joke triggered frustration in Bec, who said she wasn’t interested in a guy who goes to jail and spends time with his stripper mate. Yikes.
This issue with Danny’s unseriousness came up again at Homestays Week as the groom’s inability to soak up their serious and sweet moment (or do “soppy bollocks” as he called it) led to Bec ending up in tears.
In the end, Bec was “too dramatic” for Danny and Danny wasn’t dramatic enough for Bec.
Are Bec and Danny still together?
Despite rumours already hinting at the couple’s split, the Final Vows on April 7 confirmed that Bec and Danny have called it quits after the experiment.
An insider told Refinery29 Australia that “Danny was there for fame not love.”
“He was clearly not into Bec from the get-go. It was written on his face at every opportunity; however, behind the scenes, he was telling her daily how happy she was and how strong they were as a couple.”
Ouch!
Well, it seems Danny is certainly capitalising on his moment in the spotlight. On April 2 (the day after April Fools because this is not a joke ladies and gents), Danny announced that he will be taking his clothes off and strutting his stuff on the Magic Men tour and, honestly, we don’t know how to feel about it.
Will Parfitt, Danny’s childhood mate and famed Magic Men frontman has confirmed to WHO that Danny is set to perform at not one, but two of the male performance shows in April.
For Bec, the bride told WHO that she and Danny are “great”, but unearthed footage on MAFS: After the Dinner Party suggested otherwise.
“We are really hoping people can see what our relationship was like behind closed doors,” Bec told WHO. “The show really is only showing a certain narrative.”
However, after watching the MAFS: After the Dinner Party episode on March 29, we’re not so sure this is the case, and whether Bec is now retracting that statement.
As this “behind closed doors” footage is revealed in front of Bec and Danny on the couch, Danny calls Bec’s request for seriousness a “major major red flag” and describes constructive conversations with her as “getting crucified.” He even goes so far to ask producers if he can stay in a hotel in Adelaide while Bec’s off doing piece-to-camera interviews.
Sitting on the MAFS: After the Dinner Party couch, Danny’s “fear” to open up to Bec was called out as “dishonesty.”
With the Reunion on the horizon and more lies to be revealed, the reality of their “great” post-experiment friendship remains to be seen.
