Dramatic pauses and tension come part and parcel with riveting reality TV.

So it’s no surprise Bachelor in Paradise has been adding a little TV magic to up the ante on the suspense.

When done right, the process is seamless but during last night’s rose ceremony, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a major editing fail.

Alex McKay’s love triangle with Jessica Brody and Keira Maguire was one of the main plot points in the episode and fans watched with bated breath to see which of them he’d give his rose to.

As is the formula for The Bachelor franchise, the most gripping rose gifting is usually the one left until last.

However, it appears that’s not how it all played out in reality.

Fans pointed out that when Jamie Doran chose Brittney Weldon, there was only one rose remaining on the table of roses, meaning he was actually the last cab off the rank – despite two people making their choice after him on-screen.

In the episode, Niranga Amarasinghe was next up, but the table was cropped out of shot – seemingly as to not give the game away.

Eventually, Alex’s time to choose who to give his rose to was played, with a close up of a sole remaining rose shown to drive the point home.

After the explosive episode, Helena Sauzier and Jessica Brody were left roseless and sent home from Paradise.

Following her elimination, Jessica spoke to Now To Love about her fling with Ciarran Stott and confessed she believed his romance with Kiki Morris was pre-planned.

“I do believe that he had a plan prior to filming that he wanted to get with Kiki all along – and it does suck to be a pawn in the game,” she said.

Meanwhile, Helena told Who that her experience on Paradise was a lot easier than vying for Matt Agnew’s heart on The Bachelor.

“This season was a lot more relaxed to be honest, most of it was just fun. It’s obviously sad when you realise that there’s no one there for you but I had a great time,” she said.

Bachelor in Paradise continues tonight 7.30pm on Channel Ten.
