After almost a decade working with Channel Nine and three years behind the microphone on KISS FM’s 3pm Pick-Up, Bec Judd has announced that she’s stepping away from the spotlight.

Via Instagram Stories, the 37-year-old explained that the move was a “family decision” prompted by a shift in priorities following the covid-19 pandemic.
“This year has taught us that we just want to take a step back and not really have those weekly commitments anymore,” she said.
“I’ve got such a young family and my twins start at school, not next year, but the year after, so I’ve got one year left with them and we really want to, as a family, really make the most of those golden years.”
The model and her retired AFL legend husband, Chris Judd, share four children together, Oscar, 9, Billie, 6, and four-year-old twins, Tom and Darcy.
Bec added that the decision “wasn’t easy” and was one the couple “sat on for months,” with Chris also agreeing to give up his gig on Triple M’s footy commentary team.
“My husband has also walked away from his radio gig for next year and it’s purely a result of us re-evaluating our lives and what’s important to us as a family next year.”
ARN’s chief content officer, Duncan Campbell, revealed that come January, Kate Langbroek would be taking Bec’s spot on air two days a week alongside co-hosts Katie ‘Monty’ Dimond and Yumi Stynes.
“Bec Judd has been a fantastic contributor to 3pm Pick-Up,” he said in a statement.
“The engaging conversation, real-life anecdotes and fun that she brought to the show will be missed, but we wish her well on her next endeavours.”
On Tuesday, a Nine rep told the Daily Mail that filming for travel show Postcards had been postponed, effectively leaving Bec without a position as host.
“Covid-19 restrictions have meant that we have been unable to film new episodes of Postcards,” the representative said, adding that the mum-of-four was a “great talent.”
“We would welcome the chance to work with her again should the right opportunity arise.”
Bec had held the role since 2011 and was previously the weather presenter for Nine News Melbourne.
Bec and Chris are preparing to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary in December. In her book The Baby Bible, she shared the secret behind their happy marriage.
“We have a date night every Wednesday,” she wrote.
“We book in the babysitter and Chris is really busy and so am I [but] even if it’s just playing tennis, it’s really important to have that time together.”
