Tom Hooper’s film adaption of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous musical Cats has been an utter trainwreck from start to finish.

From the moment the first trailer dropped back in July, wary audiences recoiled in fear as they watched some of their favourite stars prance and sing in utterly terrifying and poorly constructed CGI’d costumes.
The internet thusly labelled Cats a colossal failure months before the film hit the cinemas, and it turns out they were right.
Cats would have to go down as the decades biggest flop, currently grossing a meagre $36.9 million worldwide it has now been predicted that production company Universal will lose a whopping $71 million this year.
It’s safe to say Cats is a Hollywood disaster.
According to We Got This Covered, the execs over at Universal have been forced to pull Cats from awards consideration due to its terrible performance, and despite the production company pumping out its fair share of blockbuster hits, the musical is set to undo everyone’s hard work.
American publication Deadline has since explained how Cats became the biggest blockbuster blunder of the 10’s.
“Let’s just say that there was a reason why this unusual, song-driven (not plot-driven) musical based on T.S. Eliot’s 1939 book of poems, Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, didn’t make it to the screen sooner. The whole concept of humans-dressed-as-felines and crooning away might seem ripe for live-stage theater crowds, but it’s enough to make critics break out in hives (20% Rotten) and, unfortunately, audiences too.”
Some things are best left to Broadway.
