Glen Powell’s ex girlfriend, Gigi Paris, has broken her silence on her split from the Top Gun actor. The 2023 break up was highly publicised at the time, as Powell was embroiled in dating rumours with his Anyone But You co-star, Sydney Sweeney.
Between flirtatious red carpet appearances and leaked behind-the-scenes clips, rumours were flying that Sweeney, 27, and Powell, 36, were having an affair. At the time, Powell was with Paris, and Sweeney was engaged to film producer Jonathan Davino.
Although the so-called ‘relationship’ between Sweeney and Powell has since been debunked as a publicity stunt, Paris has said it was still the catalyst for the end of her relationship. According to PEOPLE, Paris and Powell split in April 2023, but the relationship had started to disintegrate before then. Filming on Anyone But You had commenced in Sydney in February that same year.
She said she decided to end the relationship with Powell after he failed to communicate the dating stunt with Sweeney, which she found disrespectful.
“Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, ‘No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn’t do that.’ That’s all that needed to be said. And that wasn’t said … Never once,” Paris said on the Too Much podcast with Emma Klipstein.
“I honestly hoped that they’d end up together, because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me.”
“I had two options,” she said of the rumours. “I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, ‘Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this? What the f—?’ Or stand up for myself and say, ‘No, I’m actually not okay with this, and I’m walking away.’ So that’s what I decided to do … I was shattered.”
“I just wanted respect, especially if it’s gonna be public,” Paris continued. “Like, don’t make an ass out of me. Like, just don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know? And at the end of the day, it was like, well, work comes first. And if that’s the case, power to you, that’s your priority. I gotta walk away. What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.”
This was all in keeping with Paris’ actions at the time, when — following the split — she posted a video to Instagram, writing, “Know your worth & onto the next.”
