The 2024 Gold Logie Award winner has been announced, with Larry Emdur taking home the top prize at the 64th TV WEEK Logie Awards,
Nominated amongst some of Australia’s most beloved stars, Sonia Kruger, Asher Keddie, Tony Armstrong, Robert Irwin, Andy Lee, and Julia Morris, the race for Gold came down to the final moments and with the votes counted, Larry Emdur was crowned the winner of the biggest prize in Australian television.
Taking to the stage to celebrate his latest accolade, Emdur told the crowd, “40 years I’ve been in this business, and for 25, maybe 30 years, I’ve sat in this room and thought, ‘I wonder what it’s like sitting on this fancy table down here.'”

Keeping his humourous nature throughout his speech, Emdur quipped, “I was so convinced that I wasn’t going to win this that I said that if I did win it, I would have all the nominees’ initials tattooed on my arse live tomorrow morning!”
“There are times like that where I was like, “I should not be in this business.” You know, it’s about the shows, I touched on them before, The Chase family, Deb and Andrea, all the chasers… The Morning Show, Sarah Carson, the whole team, I adore you.”
“Kylie Gillies, my TV wife, thank you, we campaigned hard. I wrote in my book, which is now available in all good clearance bins, that Kylie and I sat on The Morning Show 17 years ago and we clicked and we’ve never unclicked.”
Continuing with the quick-witted banter, the 59-year-old continued, “I asked my dad, when I went in for my first day on the job in the Seven newsroom, I asked what I do and he said, ‘Just be nice to everyone.’ After a few days, he asked me how it was going and I said, “Dad, I’m trying but there’s so many a**holes in this business.”

After sharing his gratitude for his fellow nominees, fans of the presenter flooded social media with words of congratulations – commemorating the host’s first and second-ever Logie Award win.
“What a well-deserved win! Love watching him and Kylie of a morning,” wrote one fan.
Aside from taking home the top prize, Larry also received the Bert Newtown Award for Most Popular Presenter.
Commemorating his first win of the night, Larry thanked his incredible team.
“Everybody knows that the presenter award is the person that stands up the front and the huge machines behind them.”
More to come.
