Jennifer Aniston hit back at a US politician JD Vance after he called women without children “miserable” and “childless cat ladies”.
The 39-year-old Republican vice presidential candidate made the comments in a resurfaced video from 2021.
The video shows Vance, Donald Trump’s chosen running mate for the November US election, criticising Vice President Kamala Harris and other female Democratic politicians who don’t have biological children.
Vance called Harris, who has two stepchildren, one of the “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too.”
Aniston, 55, revealed in 2022 that she had struggled with fertility, reposted Vance’s video with a blunt message for the conservative politician and anyone else who felt similarly.

“Truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of the United States,” she wrote on Instagram on July 25. “All I can say is, Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Vance has three children, including a two-year-old daughter, Mabel.
He’s faced a swift backlash after the emergence of the video – not just from celebrities, either.
Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff also fired back.
“How can you be ‘childless’ when you have cutie-pie kids like Cole and I?” she wrote jokingly, name-checking Harris’ stepson.
But then she became more serious. “I love my three parents,” she added.
Aniston rarely speaks about her struggle to have children, so followers sat up and took notice when the Friends star hit back at Vance’s comments.
Does Jennifer Aniston have children?
Jennifer Aniston does not have children. In 2022 she revealed that she had struggled with fertility and undergone IVF treatment.
When Aniston and Brad Pitt divorced in 2005, reports emerged that the breakup was due to Aniston “refusing” to have children.
“I’ve never in my life said I didn’t want children,” she said at the time. “I did and I do and I will. I would never give up that experience for a career.”
Did Jennifer Aniston have IVF treatment?
The actress told Allure in 2022 that she had become tired of the endless speculation on whether she would have children while married to Brad Pitt.
“It was really hard,” she said. “I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would have given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favour’. You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”
Aniston said she spent most of her late 30s and 40s trying to conceive, calling it a “challenging road”.

Apart from the difficulties of going through IVF treatment, there was the added pressure of public scrutiny, with fans and the media constantly speculating on if and when she would have children. Once Aniston reached a certain age, the focus shifted to: Why hadn’t she had children? Her revelation to Allure that she had struggled to conceive and gone through IVF treatment put paid to some of the gossip and speculation.
Did Jennifer Aniston have a husband?
Jennifer Aniston has been married twice, to Brad Pitt (2000-2005) and Justin Theroux (2015-2017).
In 2022 Aniston said she’d be unlikely to marry for a third time. “Never say never, but I don’t have any interest,” she told Allure.
Is Jennifer Aniston in a relationship now?

The speculation didn’t really go anywhere – Aniston hasn’t gone public with a relationship in five years.

In 2022 she told Allure she would “love a relationship” but wasn’t in a hurry to rush down the aisle again.
