Despite being one of the biggest pop stars of the last two decades, Lady Gaga’s personal life has remained largely out of the public eye.
While the star may have hidden her romance from the spotlight, in October 2024, the 38-year-old singer confirmed rumours surrounding her relationship – hard-launching her engagement with her husband-to-be, Michael Polansky.

Opening up about their engagement for the first time, Gaga told Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” He proposed to me right after my birthday, so my birthday passed and I thought, ‘Oh, thought he was going to propose.'”
Recounting their proposal, she continued, “We went on a trip together and we went rock climbing… He actually – it was very Michael – he asked me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed.”
“I think it was super smart. It was safe. He had the ring in his backpack, so it was super cute.”
Looking to the future, the singer offered a brief insight into the couple’s wedding planning journey,
“We actually talk a lot about just going to a courthouse just the two of us and just ordering Chinese food, but knowing me, also it could become a circus with unicorns,” she quipped.
Releasing her companion album Harlequin, Gaga revealed to People that her fiance supported her throughout the project as co-executive producer.
“It’s just the first time that we decided to fully just go into it and do it. It just felt right,” she shared, later adding, “I just love my fiancé so much, He’s my best friend. He’s my partner, and I just feel like when you are with your best friend, everything changes.”
The couple’s red carpet debut as bride and groom to be comes one month after Gaga sent social media into a frenzy while attending the Olympic Games in Paris, with the singer quietly confirming her engagement after introducing Polansky to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal as her fiance.
Gaga was in Paris to perform at the opening ceremony on July 27, and was filmed meeting Attal during the swimming competition the following day. That night, Attal shared the footage to his official TikTok channel.
“Thank you Lady Gaga for your stunning performance at the opening ceremony,” Attal captioned the video. “It was breathtaking.”
In the video, Attal gives Lady Gaga a quick hug and shakes hands with Polansky, 46.
“My fiance, Michael,” Lady Gaga can be heard casually saying, and viewers were quick to pick up Gaga’s quiet confirmation that she was engaged.

Who is Michael Polanksy?
Michael Polansky is a businessman and tech entrepreneur. The Harvard University graduate runs Napster founder Sean Parker’s company, Parker Group.
His first appearance on Gaga’s Instagram was on February 4, 2020, when she shared a loved-up snap from Miami.
“We had so much fun in Miami. Love to all my little monsters and fans, you’re the best!” Gaga, pictured sitting on Polansky’s lap, captioned the photo.
On Valentine’s Day 2020, she shared another sweet snap, a selfie captioned: “Happy Valentine’s Day!! ‘Babe, do I have lipstick all over me?'”
What has Lady Gaga said about Michael Polansky?
The pair have kept their relationship private, but at one of her final Las Vegas residency shows in July she dedicated one of her songs to Michael, calling him “my mister.”
In a notable interview with Vogue in September 2024, Gaga shared rare details about her relationship.
“I had never met anyone like Michael. He’s so smart and so kind. And his life and my life are very different,” she told the publication. “He’s a very private guy and he’s not with me for any other reason than that we are right for each other. But I think what I want my fans to know is that I’m just, like, so happy. I’m healthy.”
She also spoke about how she met Michael through her mum, Cynthia Germanotta.
“My mum met him and she said to me, ‘I think I just met your husband,’ and I said, ‘I’m not ready to meet my husband!’ I could never have imagined that my mum…found the most perfect person for me?” Gaga told Vogue.
The pair bonded at a 40th birthday party for a friend and “talked for three hours”.
Michael also spoke to Vogue about Gaga, adding, “I didn’t know much about her and honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I was struck immediately by her warmth and openness — she was so genuinely curious about what my life was like growing up in Minnesota.”
Who has Lady Gaga dated?
Gaga has been engaged twice before. She was engaged to actor Taylor Kinney in 2015, but they broke up a year later.
In 2019, Gaga became engaged to her talent agent, Christian Carino, whom she had been dating since 2019.
But the engagement was later called off, with a source telling Us Weekly that Carino was a jealous lover and “didn’t treat Gaga very well toward the end of their relationship.”
