While it’s been a long two-year wait, David Harbour who plays beloved Sheriff Hopper insists that it was all worth the long wait.

The final episode of season 3 has been dubbed as “the greatest episode we’ve ever shot,” says the actor to EW. “It’s so emotionally powerful because you’re not expecting what happens to happen. I don’t think we’ve ever shot anything more moving.”

The upcoming season kicks off in the summer of 1985, Hawkins, Indiana. As they have come to expect, the town is under threat from the upside down  Demogorgon creature — whatever else this tv show wants to call it.

“We closed the gate, but there is this intelligence out there — the spider—shadow monster — and it wants into this world,” Harbour revealed.

“It’s going to use a lot of different means to do that.”

As fans have been expecting for so long, we may finally see a Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) reunion too.

“He gets to really open his heart in a new way,” Harbour says of his character, Hopper. “He’s sort of realising the intimacy that is required with a woman his age is going to be difficult.”

For Harbour, it wasn’t the intimacy that challenged him the most in this new season. It’s his facial hair.

“I hated the mustache after a while,” he admitted. “I liked it for a couple of months, and then I was like, ‘Holy s—! All I want to do is shave this thing off my face, but I have another three months of a TV show to do.’”

Stranger Things 3 hits Netflix July 4!
