EXCLUSIVE: Logan reveals the one comment from Farmer Jason she ‘did not like’ as Poppy rushes to his defense

Both Poppy and Logan weighed in on hearing Jason's controversial comment to the camera.

On Monday night’s episode of Farmer Wants A Wife, an old-fashioned ‘values challenge’ aired all of the unspoken ‘elephants in the room’ that farmers and contestants have been tiptoeing around so far. From the subject of religion and marriage to the hot topic of kids, some controversial takes have certainly been thrown around, leaving some ladies (and fans) not so happy.

One concern that keeps coming up among Farmer Jason’s ladies is why he keeps pursuing Poppy when she’s been firm about not wanting kids.

“I guess I was hoping she’d change her mind,” Jason told the cameras after seeing Poppy say, yet again, that she doesn’t want to be a parent. “I love being a dad, and yeah, I would like to have more kids.”

However, after a saucy ‘blindfold’ challenge led to Poppy being selected for Jason’s solo date, it seems he may not have been as concerned about this as we previously thought.

Jason explains his decision to choose Poppy for solo date

“I’ve literally been wondering from the start why he chose Poppy because of the fact she has expressed multiple times that she doesn’t want to have children,” one fan commented online. “I think Jason is hoping he can change her mind on that, as he really does like her, but from a female perspective, males can’t change the way we are.”

“Jason’s profile clearly stated he wanted more children, so] then why does he keep picking Poppy?” another seconded.

Speaking to WHO, Jason responded to the backlash and explained what was going through his mind when he made his decision.

“There’s few other things [about Poppy] that looked promising,” Jason said. “Sometimes in the past I’ve said no to people who didn’t want kids, and then I’ve probably said no to good people, good potential people, and was probably thinking I should change.”

Logan believes Poppy ‘should have been very stern with him’

However, it seems Jason’s line of thinking wasn’t communicated all too well to the ladies who, when speaking to WHO after watching the show back, had some words about Jason’s comments – particularly when he said he could ‘change Poppy’s mind’ about kids.

“She should have been very stern with him on the fact that her mind’s not going to be changed, or don’t give him false hope,” Logan told us. “I don’t know what their conversations were like, but watching it back, they definitely should have had a proper conversation about it.”

That said, Logan didn’t appreciate a comment Jason made to Poppy about her stance on kids. “I did notice a couple of things, like what Jason said, about how he’s got to change her mind about the kids. I did not like that comment at all,” Logan admitted.

“She’s a grown woman who doesn’t want children; a man is not going to change her mind. I didn’t like that.”

Regarding an awkward moment at the end of Monday’s episode, where Kimberley quizzed Poppy about her not wanting to have kids, Logan could see where she was coming from, but she’s still ‘Team Poppy’.

“She probably just wanted clarity about Poppy’s decision and why she’s here and why she chose Jason,” Logan said. “I would have been on Poppy’s side, and I was mad that Kimberly was questioning her.”

Poppy responds to backlash over Jason’s comments

Despite how the edit made things appear, Poppy reassured us that she never felt “pressured” by Jason on the topic of kids, but can understand why fans and some of the other ladies would be concerned, as “conversations around children are very personal, and people have strong feelings around it.”

“I was upfront with Jason from the beginning about not wanting children,” Poppy told WHO. “I applied because I was interested in him as a person and the other qualities he had. I respected that he had his own hopes for the future, and he chose to continue getting to know me, knowing where I stood on this subject.”

When questioned about the comment Jason made in an earlier episode about hoping to ‘change [Poppy’s] mind’ on the subject, she said she “only became aware of that comment watching the episode.”

“It’s a big life decision, and I would never want someone to change something so personal about themselves…or expect that of me,” she said.

“I have been clear about my feelings from the get-go and have remained consistent the entire way through,” she added. “It’s important that both people are honest about something so significant.”
