With Farmer Wants A Wife nearly over for 2026, the men face the daunting task of saying goodbye to women they have formed connections with over the course of filming.
It’s a task that is harder for some farmers than others, particularly for Zac, who had such a hard time deciding who to send home in the last farewell that he ultimately decided to keep all the remaining women in the mix for another week.
Having developed strong feelings for Grace, Maya and Mieke, it was always going to be a gut-wrenching job telling one of them it was over.
Despite their relationship getting off to a strong start early in the season, Grace was clearly nervous about her fate, especially as her bond with Zac cooled off once the other women arrived on the farm.
Zac’s connection with Maya seemed to grow deeper as he sought to protect her from “villain” Miranda, while he also started to see a potential future with Mieke after finally going on a solo with her.
So, where does this leave him? He has a solid connection with Maya, had something great with Grace, and now something is growing with Mieke.

The decision that ruined Farmer Zac
Things came to a head at the black-tie event when Grace, overcome with dread about how little alone time she’d had with Zac, walked out.
Before following her out, Zac confessed to the cameras that despite having held Grace so highly, things had changed.
“I think my emotions show how I’m feeling,” he said through his tears.
Sitting down with Grace, the apple farmer told her that he knew this week’s decision would be the one that “ruins me”.
“I just can’t believe how strongly I’m feeling in such a short time. I just did not expect it,” he said. “Unfortunately, I am sending you home in this situation.”
When questioned about what had changed between them, Zac replied, “Nothing changed. It’s so hard with the connections that you form, and I wasn’t expecting to form them when we had such a strong start, and it was always there. And just being pushed into a situation where you are forced to really build feelings and connections quite quick.”

Grace then asked the tough question – and received an even tougher answer.
“And you see that more with the other girls, then?”
Zac admitted that he did.
“I knew the momentum had swung against me; I just thought it was going to swing back, and I’m just really surprised. I thought my connection was stronger than the one you have with Mieke. But that’s obviously not the case,” she replied.
Speaking to the cameras, Grace admitted she felt numb about going home, adding that Zac ticked all her boxes, so it was sad she didn’t tick his.
The realisation that made Zac question his connection with Grace
In an exclusive chat with WHO, Zac revealed how he knew that his connection with Mieke was stronger than the one he shared with Grace.
“It was probably once we started communicating more, and really got to see [Mieke’s] soft side and an emotional side to herself,” he explained. “Because I knew there was definitely a spark there, and we definitely had a similar sense of humour, and how we obviously grew up in similar towns, and whatnot.
“I feel like we have similar personalities, but once we sort of got talking, and we talked more, and we got to go on a date, and that side of things, and I got to see more of Mieke, that did put that question in the back of my mind with Grace.”

Speaking about that very emotional farewell with Grace, he shared that “it was hard”, adding, “I was a proper emotional wreck, like it did just feel like I was potentially throwing away one of my futures, because that’s how I was feeling at that stage.
“I felt like I could have gone in any direction with either the ladies, and that could have been the future for me and, unfortunately, I had to send someone home, and yeah, you probably saw how much it did get to me and how much I felt. But at the end of the day, it was a decision that had to be made, and it was bloody tough.”
Grace’s exit follows Zac previously telling WHO that there was no way he could have chosen his final lady when Farmer Alex chose his.
“Absolutely not a chance I could have chosen someone,” he said after Alex and Eddy left together. “I was in shambles. I had no idea which direction I was going to go in.
“I had three wonderful ladies, and I just had no idea how to make a decision or which direction to go. It was the toughest time of the experiences, probably those final two weeks.”
So, will Zac choose the girl he has serious chemistry with, or the girl he’s possibly built a stronger emotional connection with?
Time will tell!
