TV favourite Luke Jacobz has revealed the heartfelt reason behind his choice of luxury item to take into the jungle.
Speaking to Ten Daily, the star revealed his pink socks are not so much about comfort as a tribute to his late father John, who tragically passed in 2015.
‘My dad used to wear pink socks to work, so I’m wearing pink socks in the jungle so every day I have a reminder that I’m doing it for him,’ he told journalist Mat Whitehead.
Luke’s memory of dad John, who suffered from brain cancer, has loomed large during the star’s stint in the jungle, and he is raising money for Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer as a fitting tribute.
‘Dad went out and bought himself a pair of pink socks and he would wear them to work every day so that my brother wouldn’t steal them,’ Luke told campmates.
‘I wanted to have a bit of him in here with me every day.’
But not all luxury items brought into the jungle have such positive vibes associated with them. In contrast to Luke’s warm and fuzzy choice, Dermott Brereton brought in a voodoo doll, which he boasted of using on enemies in the past – suggesting he might employ it again if people get on his nerves.
