Lisa Leaño Hopkins is the first to admit she needed to lower her standards if she ever wanted to find love, but was signing up for a reality TV show created by the same people who made Married At First Sight a step too far?

She certainly doesn’t think so, especially since the new Stan Original Love Triangle seems to be quite different to recent seasons of MAFS, which have produced more ‘villains’ than successful couples.
“We know that the MAFS producers are behind this new experience and going into it, I said I’d wear my heart on my sleeve and be my true authentic self,” she tells WHO exclusively.
That included letting cameramen film her very sex-positive bedroom, where vibrators sat in prize position on her shelves while other sex toys were on charge next to her phone.
The cheeky shots were the result of Lisa’s personal vow to be open and honest about who she is on the show, regardless of what audiences may think. Or how it could be edited.
“When you’re fake, no matter which way you edit it, it will come out as not being really genuine,” she explains, having seen it happen on other reality shows.
“For me it was about being my true authentic self, I didn’t care which way they would edit that, even if it would be made out to seem like a villain edit.”
Adding that she’s “not really scared” of how her scenes in the show may be edited, Lisa was nervous about the actual dating, given she’s been painfully single for the last 10 years.
She blames her “picky” attitude when it comes to dating apps, where she even admits to swiping left on every single man with a tattoo. Picky indeed!
But Love Triangle forced her to build connections with two matches without having a clue what they looked like, something she hopes will finally lead her to true love.
“What I loved the most was the fact that there was that connection and hopefully I’d find that attractive more than anything else,” she says.
She’s excited to finally get a bit of Filipino representation on Aussie TV screens, coming from a mixed background herself; Lisa’s half-Filipino, half-British and grew up in Australia.
“To represent that, especially on a reality show, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a lot of Filipino women doing something like this. I think it’s a beautiful thing,” she says.
