We’re only two weeks into the MAFS season and, unsurprisingly, there’s already explosions going off everywhere we look. Tonight’s episode was no different, and one of the biggest tension points was between couple Chris and Brook when they shared their casting application videos with each other, and Chris’ revealed some er… interesting points.
Alongside general cynicism of the experiment and saying he doesn’t like people who are “clingy” or “fat”, there was one standout comment in Chris’ application video that upset Brook.
“Give me this sexy, brunette, tanned girl on a platter.”
Now, in case you forgot what Brook looks like, let us remind you.
Brook is a model, with brunette hair, and is from the Gold Coast.
With Chris’ desires for his bride clearly being met, it may come as no surprise that the couple had been getting on up to this point, slowly building the foundations of their relationship and showing early signs of sparks.
Brook had been hesitant from his cynical vows when they first met and told him he’d need to “earn his stripes” (choosing not to kiss him yet), but all early signs were positive.

However, the revelation of Chris’ crude comments in his casting video made Brook question how much he respects women and ultimately left her questioning his character.
“I’m f–king appalled,” she shared in the episode.
“Your comments about fake tan, clingy people and fat people… it was f–ked. You’re sitting there and you’re talking to women about women’s bodies, it’s not a comment for you.
“If I saw that at the beginning I wouldn’t have even looked at you or given you a chance.”
Chris excused his comments as ‘boy’ behaviour
The couple got into a heated discussion, with Chris trying to justify his behaviour to Brook, saying it’s a mentality he’s always had when he’s with his “boys” and “trying to impress them”.
Brook fired back: “That’s not an excuse. You’re 31 and you shouldn’t be speaking like that.”
Chris responded: “I’d usually say that in an environment with guys and not ever around women”.
And here, lies the problem.
There has been immediate backlash online to Chris’ comments, with many shocked by his blatant admission of what he wanted in his bride – with all of them notably being physical attributes.
However, is the shock around what he said actually the most surprising thing of all? Doesn’t it just reveal to us what we already sombrely suspect goes on in a men’s group chat or locker room?
Brook second guesses Chris’ character after claims he’ll change
Chris told his bride he wants to change his behaviour but it looks like the damage has already been done.
“I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time, and I’ve been living in the footie lifestyle which is pretty toxic and unproductive, but I’ve got no one else to blame. It’s about time I changed,” Chris said.
Brook phoned a friend about the revelations in his casting video, who advised her to run for the hills if he doesn’t respect women – saying it’s doomed from the beginning.
