The world was first introduced to Malcolm In The Middle back in 2000 and, although it ended in 2006, we have wanted more ever since!
The sitcom followed the life of a gifted boy, Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) and his hilariously dysfunctional middle-class family.
The stellar cast included Bryan Cranston as Hal- the loving but unsophisticated father, Jane Kaczmarek as Lois- the caring but very short-tempered mother, Christopher Kennedy Masterson as Francis- the delinquent eldest brother, Justin Berfield as Reese- the most middle child ever to live, and Erik Per Sullivan as Dewey- the adorable youngest brother.

Thankfully, a reboot is in the works…and it might be coming sooner than you think.
Here is everything we know about the Malcolm In The Middle reboot:
When was the Malcolm In The Middle reboot announced?
Back in 2024, lead actor Frankie Muniz delighted fans when he confirmed that a reboot of the beloved series was in the making.
“Without giving away too much because there’s nothing confirmed, but it’s the closest it’s ever been to being a reality,” Frankie told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“We don’t want to just be one of the many shows that got rebooted over the last couple of years that probably shouldn’t have had a reboot,” he explained.
“So if we do it, that’s the biggest thing, we want to make sure it’s good. With an iconic show like we had, you don’t want to taint it. You want to have the same impact for the people who would want to watch it and make sure we make a good product.”
However, it wasn’t until 2025 that the reboot officially entitled Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair was officially greenlit and began production.
Who will be in for Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair?

Amazing news: essentially, the entire cast of the original series is returning for Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair.
Although we are delighted that Frankie Muniz agreed to appear in the reboot, it came as a surprise to many.
The reason is that the actor took a step back from Hollywood to pursue a career in racecar driving.
Many fans were also shocked that Bryan Cranston said yes, as he has gone on to become an award-winning actor.
His former on-screen wife, Jane Kaczamerek, will return and we could not imagine her being played by someone else!
Christopher Kennedy Masterson will also return as Francis, and Justin Berfield as Reese. Unfortunately, one brother won’t be the same as Erik Per Sullivan (Dewey) turned down the offer.
Instead, Dewey will be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. And to give credit to the casting team- he looks pretty similar to the OG Dewey.
Why did Erik Per Sullivan (Dewey) say no to appearing in the reboot?

During an appearance on Dana Carvey’s and David Spade’s Fly on the Wall podcast, Bryan Cranston revealed the reason behind Erik Per Sullivan’s decision.
”I talked to Erik and I said, ‘Hey, we got the show! It’s gonna come back.’ He goes, ‘Oh, that’s fantastic!’ And I go, ‘Yeah, so we’re looking forward to having you back.’ He goes, ‘Oh, no, no, I don’t want to do it. But it’s fantastic that you are,’”
“He’s really, really smart, and I think he’s getting his master’s at Harvard right now. He said, ‘Oh God, no, I haven’t acted since I was nine or something. So I’m not into it.’”
Hard to argue with that!
What is the Malcolm In The Middle reboot about?

In the comical trailer for Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, we learn that Malcolm is still wholly embarrassed by his crazy family.
Not only that, we also find out that he has avoided his family for over a decade until he is forced by his parents to attend their 40th anniversary party.
And as many people can relate to, despite being a fully-grown adult man, the dynamics between Malcolm and his family remain intact and he regresses back to his former self.

When does the Malcolm In The Middle reboot come out in Australia?

Although no date has been announced for release in Australia, Hulu has confirmed that it will come out in the United States on April 10, 2026.
So we’ll likely see it land on streaming services Down Under around that date! Given that Hulu content tends to stream on Disney+ in Australia, that is where we expect the Malcom in the Reboot to be available when the time comes.
