Just when we thought Colleen Hoover couldn’t serve us up another book-to-screen adaptation, the It Ends With Us author has surprised fans yet again – announcing that her novel Reminders of Him will be the latest to receive a movie makeover.
According to Deadline, the film is slated to be directed by British director and screenwriter Vanessa Caswill, with Colleen and Bridge to Terabithia‘s Lauren Levine signing on to write the screenplay.
As with seemingly every book-to-screen adaptation by one of BookTok’s most beloved authors, Reminders of Him will also feature a stacked cast of talent, and in good news for Outer Banks fans, a familiar face will soon be making his return to the big screen…
Who is the cast of Reminders of Him?
In *major* news for fans of beloved Outer Banks bad boy JJ Maybank, actor Rudy Pankow will be joining the film as the primary love interest, Scott Landry.
Starring alongside Rudy as the novel’s protagonist, Kenna Rowan, is Hot Summer Nights star Maika Monroe, with I Know What You Did Last Summer’s Tyriq Withers also signing on to the project as Kenna’s local bar owner, Ledger Ward.
Sharing his reaction to the news, Tyriq wrote on Instagram, “feeling beyond grateful to step into this story. One that is rooted in suffering, grief, pain, forgiveness, and ultimately, healing. Knowing the ache of loss myself, this role feels deeply personal.”

What is Reminders of Him about?
In case you haven’t already ticked the book off your ‘to read’ list, Reminders of Him follows Kenna Rowan, a young mother recently released from prison after serving a five-year sentence for a drunk driving accident that resulted in the death of her boyfriend.
After returning to her hometown, Kenna is desperate to reunite with her now four-year-old daughter who has been raised by her late boyfriend’s parents. Facing anger and distrust from the community, Kenna struggles to earn forgiveness and rebuild her life.
She forms a bond with Ledger, her boyfriend’s best friend, who becomes one of the few people willing to support her and serve as a link to her daughter; however, their romance adds another layer of risk.
When is the Reminders of Him release date?
If the news of a new Colleen Hoover flick wasn’t already big news, we also have an early hint at a release date, with The Wrap being the first to report that Reminders of Him will hit cinemas on February 13, 2026.
