With six kids and a body most 20 year olds would be proud of, the question on everyone’s lips is “How old is Madonna?” Unbelievably, the Queen of Pop turns 60 on August 16. Maybe it’s having six children – four of whom she adopted from Malawi – that keeps her so young.
In a recent interview the Lisbon-based singer talked about what it’s like to be a soccer mum and said that her son, David, is the reason the pop legend moved her family to Portugal. With a promising soccer career on the horizon, Lisbon was the best place to nurture David’s natural talent, and it’s paid off for Madge too.
“I’ve met lots of really amazing musicians, and I’ve ended up working with a lot of these musicians on my new record,” she tells Vogue Italia. “Lisbon has influenced my music and my work.”
Madonna’s four African children, David, 12, Mercy, 12, and twins Estere and Stella, 5, were all adopted from Malawai, a place that’s become a focus for Madonna’s 60th birthday celebrations.
The singer is pairing up with Facebook for a Malawi Fundraiser, with all proceeds going “directly to meals, schools, uniforms and health care,” says Madonna. “For my birthday, I can think of no better gift than connecting my global family with this beautiful country and the children who need our help most.”
